What You Behold Is Who You Become

Hi friend,

Welcome back to Tales of Grace and to another Abide Monday. It’s been a little while, hasn’t it? I’ve been a bit under the weather lately. But I’ve missed being here with you sharing, reflecting, and encouraging one another in God’s grace.

Over the weekend, a phrase kept coming to mind, one you might’ve heard before: “You become what you behold.” Those words have been sitting with me, stirring something deep in my heart. What we fix our eyes on what we dwell on, think about, and allow to shape our thoughts, truly forms who we are becoming. Whether we’re aware of it or not, the things we consume and meditate on are always shaping our hearts and our character.

And so, I had to pause and ask myself, What am I beholding? What’s capturing my attention and affection these days? Is it Jesus or something else? These gentle, challenging questions led me to this week’s anchor scripture:

And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. ” ~ 2 Corinthians 3:18

It’s a beautiful reminder of what happens when we turn our gaze to Jesus.

Here’s my prayer for us this week: that we would behold Jesus. That in the midst of our busy days, our quiet moments, our highs and our lows, we would set our eyes on Him. And as we do, we’ll find ourselves being changed. Not all at once, but bit by bit, glory by glory, He transforms us to become more like Him.

As we step into this new week and a new month, may we shine with the light of Christ wherever we go. May our words, our actions, and even the quiet spaces of our lives reflect the beauty of the One we’re beholding. May people see Him in us and be drawn to His love.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercies that greet us fresh every single morning. Thank You for this new week, and this new month. Holy Spirit, help us fix our eyes on Jesus. Teach us to behold Him, not just with our eyes, but with our hearts. Thank You for Your promise to transform us from glory to glory as we gaze upon Your Son. We love You. We welcome You. And we pray all of this in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Friend, if you’re looking for a gentle way to be more intentional about meditating on God’s Word, I’ve found the Loved Beyond Measure Journal to be such a gift. It’s helped me slow down, reflect, and really dwell on Scripture. You can grab your copy here or find it on Amazon too.

Wishing you a grace-filled, beautiful week ahead.

With all my love,
Tales of Grace
