Have you ever found yourself in a place you knew you weren’t qualified to be, but you were there anyway? It was clear as the day that only the grace of God placed you there.

Grace Over Qualification

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the blessing of being in spaces where your own works could never open the door. When I started my current job, I felt both excited and nervous, it was such an answered prayer!

However, soon after starting, I began to feel the pressure of proving myself. I kept thinking, “I must work hard so they don’t regret giving me this opportunity.”

The Reminder That Set Me Free

Then one morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me: “It wasn’t your qualifications or your efforts that got you this job, I placed you here.”

Because He put me there, He will also be the One to move me when the time comes. That reminder brought so much freedom! I no longer needed to strive just to keep my job. Instead, I could do everything with excellence, trusting the One who called me.

There are people more experienced than I am, but still, God chose me to be there. What a blessing!

This truth reminds me of David’s story in 1 Samuel 16. God sent the prophet Samuel to anoint one of Jesse’s sons as king. Jesse presented all his older sons, those who looked “qualified.” However, God rejected them all and chose David, the young shepherd boy who wasn’t even invited to the lineup.

I love this verse:

“Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

Just like David, you are not overlooked by God. Even when others can’t see your potential, He does.

Your Calling Is No Mistake

As we start this week, let’s remember that the Lord has placed us exactly where we are, for such a time as this. We don’t need to strive or compare ourselves to others. When God calls you, He also equips you.

Let’s pray:

My dearest Jesus,
I love and adore You. You alone deserve my praise, my affection, my adoration, and devotion.
Holy Spirit, thank You for reminding me daily that I am exactly where You’ve placed me—regardless of the season I’m in.
Thank You that You don’t call the qualified, but You qualify the called.
Be glorified now and forever.
