Finding Rest Amidst the Storms of Life

Hi friend,
Welcome to Tales of Grace—I’m so glad you’re here, truly! I hope you had a meaningful Easter weekend. I’d love to hear about it—what was your favorite part? Drop a comment below!
For me, it’s been a tender and heavy season. My family and I have lost three loved ones in the past month and it’s been… well tough. I’m a loud processor and I haven’t really processed my feelings. I’ve found myself avoiding the stillness needed to really feel and grieve. So, if it’s okay with you, this blog post is me processing out loud.
In trying to avoid the pain, I’ve turned to distraction—watching way too many shows. But instead of comforting me, they’ve left me feeling worse. I started comparing myself to these fictional characters who seem to have it all together. I know in my mind it’s not real, but my heart? It struggles to catch up.
Honestly, I shouldn’t be surprised. I’ve been running to broken cisterns that hold no water, instead of the arms of Jesus—the well that never runs dry.
Even now, as I write this, the Holy Spirit is gently whispering the words of Jesus:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
How amazing that Jesus promises to give us rest when we come to Him!
Friend, how do you deal with the heaviness of life? Have you ever believed the lie that you need to have it all figured out? I’d really love to hear from you—share in the comments below .
For me I have found journaling to be such a lifeline during moments like these. When I don’t know where to start, the Loved Beyond Measure journal helps me slow down and listen to the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit.
If you haven’t grabbed a copy yet, you can get yours here or find it on Amazon.
With all my love,
