Integrity: Who Are We When No One Is Watching?

Hi friend, welcome back to Tales of Grace. It’s Abide Mondays, and I’m so glad you’re here.
This week, our anchor scripture is
Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life.
proverbs 10:2,9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.
If you’ve been doing the March challenge with me, I just want to pause and say—well done! I know how challenging it can be to stay consistent, especially when diving into a book like Proverbs. It’s not always the easiest read, but every word is filled with wisdom that speaks directly to our daily lives.
This week, we’re talking about integrity. It’s a word we hear often, but what does it truly mean?
According to Merriam-Webster, integrity is about trustworthiness and incorruptibility—being so committed to what is right that we refuse to be false to our responsibilities, promises, or values.
But let’s take it deeper. Integrity isn’t just about the big, noticeable moments—it’s about the small, hidden ones too. It’s easy to do the right thing when we know others are watching. But what about when no one sees? What about the moments when we could cut corners, tell a little lie, or compromise just a little—would we still choose what is right?
I don’t ask these questions to bring guilt, but to encourage us to reflect. Because the truth is, integrity isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency. It’s about choosing righteousness even when it’s hard, even when it’s inconvenient, even when no one else would know the difference.
So my prayer for us this week is this:
Lord, teach us to walk in integrity.
When the world tells us that cutting corners is easier, remind us that righteousness brings true security. When we’re tempted to compromise, strengthen us to stand firm in Your truth. Shape us into people who honor You not just in public, but in the quiet places where no one else sees. Let our lives reflect Your goodness and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Friend, may we be people of integrity—not because we have to, but because we want to live in a way that honors God.
I’m cheering you on always.
With love and grace,
The Founder of Tales of Grace.
